SGA 2013 Cartwheel-a-thon

The Sunburst Gymnastics Academy 2013 Cartwheel-a-thon was held on May 4th. Our gymnasts did an excellent job and had a great time seeing how many cartwheels they could fit into 4 minutes! The girls team was able to raise enough to order new pieces of equipment including a Stratum Spring Board which has already arrived! Wall padding, an eight inch mat, and AAI Rails are all on the way!

There is a special title reserved for the gymnast who does the most cartwheels, and only that gymnast can be called “The Machine”. This year while the competition was tough, Maddie Smith put up unbelievable numbers with 162 CARTWHEELS in under 4 MINUTES! Way to go Maddie, you are “The Machine”!

May 18th Lock in Cancelled

We have decided to cancel the Lock-in for May 18th. As of Wednesday afternoon we only had a few students signed up and we decided to cancel this month’s Lock-in. We understand that this is the end of the school year for most of you and will plan differently for May of next year. Thank you for your understanding and please feel free to call the office if you have any questions.

Kayla Bassford (S. State Floor Champion)

Kayla recently won the Floor Competition at South State. The SGA Team Traveled to Houston and had a strong performance at Bannon’s Gymnastix. Sunburst is very proud of Kayla for her accomplishments, she scored a 9.6 on floor and had an impressive performance. Congratulations Kayla!

Sofia Ricord (S. State All Around & Floor Champion)

Sofia recently won both the All Around and Floor Competition at South State. The SGA Team Traveled to Houston and had a strong performance at Bannon’s Gymnastix. Sunburst is very proud of Sofia for her accomplishments, she scored a 9.65 on floor and had an All-Around score of 37.45. Congratulations Sofia!

SGA 2012 Cartwheel-a-thon

The Sunburst Gymnastics Academy Cartwheel-a-thon was held on April 21st, our gymnasts did an excellent job and had a great time seeing how many cartwheels they could fit into 4 minutes! The girls team along with coach Michael Rivera and Owner Nathan Britt were able to raise enough to have a new tumble track installed in the gym, as well as other equipment to be chosen in the near future!

Amanda Chamnansarn (South State Vault Champion)

Amanda won the Vault event at South State Competition recently. The SGA Women’s team took home a combined total of 4 titles in 3 categories during their trip to Houston. They also placed 7th among 21 teams, most competing with a 5 member team, SGA with 3. Congratulations Amanda!

Mia (Camo) Salazar (South State Vault Champion)

Mia recently won the Vault event at the South State competition. Competitors traveled from across South Texas for the final meet of the season; the SGA Women’s Team took home multiple titles on their trip to Houston. Congratulations Camo!

Madison Avendano (S. State All Around & Floor Champion)

Madison recently won both the All Around and Floor Competition at South State. The SGA Team Traveled to Houston and had a strong performance placing 7th out of 21 teams. The SGA Women’s team competed with 3 members and still placed high among many 5 member teams. Congratulations Madison!
